Our toddlers are divided into two classes, the Freshmen and the Sophomores.
Our FRESHMEN class, generally aged from 12 months to 24 months are quite a busy group indeed! Learning to perfect the art of walking, climbing, sliding and riding helps build their gross motor skills that are critical as your child progresses from infancy to toddlerhood as well as helping to build the foundation of their self confidence. Our Freshmen are encouraged to interact with their classmates as the concept of sharing and taking turns are introduced.
Our SOPHOMORES are generally aged from 24 months to 36 months, however all BROOKSIDE ACADEMY's programs accelerate or decelerate the progress of our student body based on the individual needs, the development level and the accomplishments of the student. Our low teacher/student ratio encourages the time necessary for positive interaction between teacher and student, creating healthy interpersonal bonds and building the student's self esteem. All students are encouraged to increase their gross and fine motor skills through exploration of various manipulative materials and developmentally appropriate toys.
Brookside Academy places great emphasis on the individuality of each child. Our expertly trained staff provides the environment for your toddler to grow and develop at his or her own pace in an atmosphere of comfort, security, and love. Your toddler will receive attentive assistance as he or she discovers what their hands can do, being coached through practical tasks such as learning to feed themselves and reading books, as well as fun playtime activities designed to further develop their fine motor skills.
Our lesson plans have been recognized and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the leading accreditation agency in the country. Our program was specifically designed to utilize hands-on experiences to help promote learning through the use of language, music, art, games, storytelling, and cognitive activities. In addition, appropriate self-help skills are introduced such as potty training and dressing skills, along with the concepts of independence and self-confidence.
