Our preschool age students are divided into two classes, the Juniors and the Seniors.
The commencement of the JUNIOR Program at Brookside Academy is a very special time for your three to four year old. As your child transitions from toddlerhood to the preschool years, Brookside's Junior Program is there to assist students and parents in this important time, while challenging students to cross ever more ambitious milestones. Brookside Academy's Junior Program invokes the full spectrum of our Kindergarten Readiness Program (KRP), a time tested developmentally appropriate educational curriculum developed exclusively by Brookside Academy and designed to fully prepare the student for pre-kindergarten. The program strives to further develop the student's self confidence and social development, focusing on learning to share and relation in a group environment. Brookside's two computer labs will start to play an increasingly important role in Junior program, along with more advanced music and art programs. Brookside's specially designed playground as well as our aquatic "Sprayground Playground"provides the much needed physical outlet for these very busy young children.
Brookside Academy's SENIOR Program is considered one of the most important programs offered at Brookside Academy. This Private Pre-K program will weave together the myriad of skills taught to the student over the last several years as the Senor Program readies the student for either private or public Kindergarten. It is the final step in Brookside's challenge to ensure that all graduates are school ready and one we take on with pride and dedication. Like the Juniors, the Senior program utilizes the Kindergarten Readiness Program, and combines it with the "Alpha Time" phonics series. By combining these two curricula, the program works to provide the student with opportunities to develop academically, socially, and emotionally. Pre-reading skills, including an introduction to phonics and early mathematics, are woven throughout the program year. Community awareness is fostered through social studies about self, family and community helpers. Finally, opportunities for free expression in art, music, storytelling, and creative play round out our early childhood development program. Brookside's Seniors embark on a minimum of two field trips every month, one of which is thematic in nature, designed to reinforce learning objectives established in the classroom for that month. Other exciting field trips will include the Fernbank Science Center, the Georgia Aquarium, the Atlanta Zoo, and so much more!
